Renowned guitarist of the band Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia is actually a painter as well. No matter how many musical projects he had (and they were a lot), he still had time to paint on the side. And his performance on both fields are exceptional.

Garcia always had a passion for the visual arts though he never really paid much attention to it compared to his music. He did enroll in a short art course at the San Francisco Art Institute. In that school, Wally Hedrick, a renowned painter himself, mentored him.

If he wasn’t onstage with one of his bands, he was most likely on art exhibits of his own works, which he peddles all over the United States. He has made about 500 paintings and sketches and about a thousand lithographs by the time of his death in August 1995.

Now, more than 10 years after he died, his legendary musical gift lives on. He has already been ranked 13 in Rolling Stones’ Top 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. But his contribution to the visual arts still remains out of the limelight.

Jerry Garcia ties are a perfect remembrance to his impeccable visual sense and expression. Based on his thought-provoking paintings, owning a Jerry Garcia ties is very much the same as owning a genuine Jerry Garcia painting. It cannot only serve as a great conversation piece, but it can serve as a great way to remember the artistic footprints he left behind.
