How to Fix Your Clutter Home
54 viewsClutter home despair is a feeling felt by many homeowners. All of a sudden the corner of the room which went unnoticed and untended has taken over the entire house and clutter is multiplying out of control. Don’t let this syndrome take over your life – take action!
Leave the clutter home look behind by approaching the project room by room and getting the whole family involved. Create a task list, bring in trash bags, buy storage containers and organizers, and get the de-clutter party going. Designate piles for keeping, giving to charity, selling at a yard sale, and throwing away. Assign each person a certain section of the room to tackle. Try to create a party atmosphere with music, pizza, refreshments, even contests, like who can remove the most clutter in 30 minutes.
When your clutter home comes calling, make it a family responsibility to fix. Look at the toys and games all over the floor, the newspapers falling from the stand, the invisible coffeee table and take action. Anticipate the future and don’t let it happen again. Create additional storage options, shelves and holding baskets for your day to day usage.
Bathrooms are one of the first places to start when it comes to getting rid of the clutter home look. Assign family members an area to start with and a location to file. When you find something that you do not really need, get rid of it!
When it comes to the kitchen, a serving of clutter home definitely should not be on the menu. If things fall out when you open your kitchen cabinets or piles are high in utensil drawers, its time to pare down the goods. Get rid of mismatched containers, dishes, mugs and glasses. Dont forget the countertops. They should only hold the essential appliances and not be a drop off point for car keys or mail.
The bedroom should be your escape to rest and relaxation, not a clutter home nightmare. Start with nightstands and dressers, where clutter tends to land. Only the essentials should be on top, the rest should be neatly stored away. Do the same with other furniture and clutter areas in the room.
When you think of a typical clutter home, you probably first consider the closets. After all, this is where we typically throw stuff that we cannot find room for anywhere else. So, with a deep breath, open the door and start by putting items in their proper place or getting rid of them. Clothes that have not been worn for a long time should be discarded, especially if they are worn or outdated. The same goes for accessories, handbags and those piles of shoes.
The goal of freeing yourself from clutter home living is not to move stuff from one area to another. Rather, its identifying what should stay because its used regularly and discarding everything else. Items that are family heirlooms or have special memories attached to them should be properly stored. The basement tends to be a common place for clutter, so take extra care to organize and label storage containers so you can easily find things. You might also want to install several shelving units for easy access to items used on a regular basis.
